Olympic Valley Recognized as a Firewise Community

Firewise USA® is a voluntary program that provides a framework to help neighbors get organized, find direction, and take action to increase the ignition resistance of their homes and community.

Over the last 6 months, a volunteer group of residents have been working on getting Olympic Valley recognized as a Firewise Community.  This required us to have a formal assessment done on the risks of a wildfire in our community, followed by the creation of an Action Plan on how to minimize these risk to our homes and community. This week we received notification that our application was accepted!
